The University City Foundation for Public Schools is the premier organization in University City that raises funds for our five public schools in University City. Our non-profit emphasizes cluster-wide cooperation, working with the principals and teachers at all five schools to identify projects that be fulfilled with District and PTSA funds. EdUCate! attracts corporate partners and offers matching funds in order to maximize every dollar donated by individuals.
EdUCate! has helped teachers with small grants for fifteen years, donating a total of $855,000 dollars. Over the last two years EdUCate! has equipped  UC classrooms with state-of-the-art  document cameras and digital projectors, working with the District to train teachers tin the use of this valuable multimedia technology. We will build on our momentum, focusing on technology to create 21st century classrooms that engage and stimulate our students at every age, in every subject. The chalkboard has evolved from black to green to electronic! Computers and digital media are required to captivate this generation of “digital natives.”
EdUCate! looks forward to sharing the 2008-09 school year with our 5000+ wonderful students and their families. Together we can build our UC schools to be the highest-achieving.  In nearby communities, families are expected to contribute as much as $2,000 per student per year to their foundations.  It isn’t mere coincidence that more donations per student results in higher scores and other metrics measuring student success.  The bottom line is that it takes private money to have great public schools.
Dollar a Day is EdUCate!’s fall focus. In two years and five percent participation this program has raised $77,000.   IMAGINE what we could do with 50%, 75% or 100% participation!
In the spring our focus will turn to fun! The fabulous Taste of the Triangle will move from November to April 3, 2009. Fill your plate at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines with the most elegant restaurant fare ever. Mingle with friends and staff members from all five schools as you spend a warm Friday evening overlooking Torrey Pines golf course, supporting your children in the most important facet of their young lives.
Donations can be made online as one time or as monthly installments. We accept donations throughout the year; every dollar given until December 31, 2008 will be matched dollar for dollar up to $10,000.  Show our students how much we value their education and want them to be ready for the 21st century workplace.
