Fall 2009
Welcome!!

For the 2009-2010 school year EdUCate! will continue to provide resources for UC's classrooms and teachers. We are taking a two-pronged approach, listening to our principals and to our teachers.

Our work with the principals is focused on complementing the District's i-21 Interactive Classroom initiative, the technology leg of Prop S. The i-21 initiative is slated to provide teacher tablet computers, document cameras, interactive white boards and student netbook computers to MOST classrooms over a five-year rollout. The District will outfit secondary math classrooms and grades 3 and 6 this year. After five years, if Prop S funds are adequate, other core subject areas and grades will be equipped, but some areas (fine arts and language, for example) will never be covered by the District's plan. Contribute to Dollar-A-Day and we can get ALL of our classrooms to the i-21 standard. In the future, we will continue to support our principals as they get teachers the professional development they need to use this fabulous technology to its full potential.

Our teachers know what they need in their individual classrooms to effectively reach students. With a recent 25% cut in supply budgets, it will be harder than ever to get any "extras." EdUCate's Teacher Wish List allows teachers to post their wishes online.  Community members can search The TWL page by school and by teacher to find a project with which they feel a personal connection. Check it out and grant a wish, or two or three or more.

Since 1993, you have helped EdUCate! provide over $925,000 in supplemental supplies and equipment to UC public schools.  This is the year we will reach (and pass) the million-dollar mark.  I invite you to be part of our million-dollar year!!!
