Patricia Preston Scholarship
This scholarship, in the amount of $2000.00, is being offered by Ryan A. Preston, in memory of Patricia Preston, to a deserving
graduating senior of University City High School Class of 2009.
This scholarship is awarded to assist the recipient to pursue higher education at the four- or
two- year college level, or at a qualified vocational school. Pat Preston was a leader in the
University City Community, and spent countless hours volunteering her time at the University City
schools of Spreckels Elementary, Standley Jr. High, and UC High over a 12-year period.

Thalia Murray Scholarship
This scholarship is offered in memory of and to honor Mrs.Thalia Murray, who taught in the SD
Unified School System for 20 years, including 17 years at Marcy Elementary (now Mission Bay Montessori)
in UC. She received a scholarship that allowed her to attend a high-quality, 4-year college, which
dramatically changed her life for the better. By working closely with a committee comprised of key
EdUCate Board members, our goal is for this Scholarship to have a similar impact. This Scholarship
is awarded each year to one eligible Senior at University City High School in the total amount of
$2,000.00.

The EdUCate! Volunteer Service Scholarship
This is offered by the Board of Directors of EdUCate! University City Foundation for Public Schools
to recognize one female and one male UCHS student for the spirit and practice of volunteerism in our
community. Information on the scholarship is available at the Counselling Office at UCHS.

Applications for all scholarships are due no later than May 1, 2010. Scholarships will be awarded at the UCHS Senior
Awards Ceremony in June 2010 at the UC High Gymnasium. Please return your completed application, including a letter of
reference, to the UCHS counseling office.
